Thank You for Helping Us Feed People and Animals Displaced by the Earthquakes in Türkiye

As most of our readers are now aware, the people of Türkiye (formerly known as Turkey) and Syria are in dire straits after a series of large earthquakes rocked their lives and decimated their homes.

The first of the earthquakes, a 7.8-magnitude behemoth, occurred in the early-morning hours of February 6th, 2023, in the southeastern part of Türkiye and was followed by several aftershocks, some of which reached into the 5-range on the Richter scale. In the following weeks, earthquakes have continued to occur spontaneously, including a 6.3-magnitude quake that also happened in the middle of the night.

More than 50,000 people have perished in Türkiye and Syria combined, and many of those who have survived are in desperate need of sustenance, shelter, warmth, and other basic necessities.

As soon as we learned of the earthquake and its aftermath, GreaterGood began working to learn more about the situation and fundraising to be able to help the people affected by this disaster.

Our non-profit partner, Greater Good Charities, is on the ground at this time in Antakya, one of the places hit hardest by the quakes. Your generous donations are helping them provide hot, nutritious food and drinks to the people and pet food to the pets and stray animals who were displaced by the earthquakes.

GGC has also traveled to nearby villages outside the city to deliver around 700 hot meals and 800 pizzas. In some places, local children even helped cook the pizzas! Local law enforcement officers have asked GGC to continue to return to the local villages in the future.

At this time, GGC is making plans to continue to mobilize volunteers on the ground to feed those in need. Your donations will continue to support them in their efforts to feed between 5,000 and 10,000 displaced people per day in Türkiye.

Check out the video below to see the devastation and how we’re helping people and pets in need.

Donations are still needed, as it will be a long time before everyone in Türkiye and Syria once again has access to permanent shelter, electricity, heat, the ability to cook their own food, and more basic necessities.

Please help people and pets continue to survive this disaster by making your donation today!
