Soldier Shows Up To Teacher Mom’s School To Surprise Her On ‘Lost & Found Day’

A New Jersey high school had a “Lost and Found Day,” which was a chance for students to reunite with their missing belongings such as sweatshirts and lunchboxes.

Little did one teacher know, she would reunite with something much better than something like a missing shirt: her son in the military who she hadn’t seen for more than a year!

24-year-old Jake Pletsch, a U.S. Army Staff Sgt., started in Fort Bliss, Oklahoma in March 2021 and then went on to Fort Still in Texas. He was then deployed to Erbil, Iraq, for nine more months.

Since he had been gone so long, Jake was the last person that Cheryl, 54, expected to see in her school’s cafeteria.

When Jake found out he would be coming home, he knew he wanted to do something special for his beloved mom. So, he immediately called his sister, Jacquelyn, who got the high school to set up the entire thing in order to surprise her, with help from another teacher.

Students and teachers cheered them on as her son first appeared and began jogging toward his shocked mother with a bouquet of flowers for her.

Jake gave his mom a huge, long-awaited hug, as she wiped tears from her eyes. Cheryl is so happy to finally see him and relieved to have him home.

It’s safe to say that this surprise reunion was a success and a beautiful moment that this teacher will never forget!
