Reading, Interrupted

How does one politely ignore family over the holidays in favor of reading? That is the question!

Yes, every bookworm has been there. You love your family (most of the time, that is), but this book is just not going to read itself. Family can be so irritating, so demanding. But books aren’t like that. Books understand. Books are your best friends, and you feel an insatiable need to read at least a little bit every day. Why doesn’t your family get that?

The holidays always seem to come at exactly the wrong time–usually when you’ve just bought a new book you’re particularly excited about or have reached a point in your new favorite book when you just can’t put it down because something important might happen without you. And what’s a person to do? Put the book down? We think not.

If it’s any consolation, you’re not the only one getting eye rolls because you have a book in your face this holiday season. We’re right there with you.
