Reese Witherspoon is searching for a part-time librarian-in-residence for her book club – which is a part of Hello Sunshine, her media company.
For the lucky person selected, the dream job will comprise of collecting and cataloging resources, as well as talking directly with authors, review book picks with Witherspoon, and engaging with the Hello Sunshine community. The best part is the job is paid, and you don’t need to be a Hollywood resident to apply. While there may be travel involved, it will be fully covered by Hello Sunshine. And while any formal librarian experience is a plus, it’s not a necessity.
Witherspoon is looking for someone who has a passion for books, particularly those that focus on women’s stories. The ideal candidate should be the kind of bookworm who has more than one favorite book and can talk for ages about the authors that inspire them. Furthermore, there is some on-camera work involved, so being comfortable in the spotlight is a must.
The application is simple, just complete a short online form – including a 500-word statement about why you want the job. There also needs to be a 90-second video about yourself included.
In the video clip posted to Youtube, Witherspoon talks about the awesome opportunity:
In the video, Witherspoon says a great sense of humor is key, because she “really likes to laugh.” She also states that great dance moves are a plus. She encourages applicants to have fun while making their submission video, saying, “We want to see your most creative, book-loving self.”
If you think you have what it takes to be the librarian-in-residence, then make sure to familiarize yourself with the selections chosen by Reese’s Book Club so far – if you haven’t already. Every month, Witherspoon picks a woman-focused book to share with the club. Members can then engage in conversation about the books across a variety of social media platforms.
Witherspoon shared her latest pick for the club, “Such A Fun Age” by Kiley Reid, in a post on Instagram:
How much would you love to be Witherspoon’s first librarian-in-residence?
