Chris Jackson is the head custodian at Unity Grove Elementary School in Henry County, Georgia.
Jodi Combs, a teacher at the school, describes Jackson as very kind and patient and says whatever they need, he makes it happen for them.
Unfortunately, Jackson was dealing with personal issues outside of work, and Combs and her colleagues wanted to be there to support him.
“We are like a big family at our school,” she told USA Today. “And when one of our people hurt, we hurt with them.”
One thing that Jackson really needed was a car. He would get rides with others here and there, but for the most part he wasn’t able to get around on his own. When he couldn’t get a ride with someone, he would have to walk to work.
Jackson began saving money for a car, but what he didn’t know was that the teachers at his school were already planning a huge surprise for him.
Once they were ready, they had the main office call Jackson down. When he got there, Combs told him they had something really heavy in her car that they needed his help carrying. Of course he agreed to help.
When they got to the car, she handed Jackson the car and told him that it was his. He was in absolute shock, and looked up to the sky to thank God.
“It’s a blessing to know someone cares, because you never know who’s watching,” Jackson said. “You never know who admires your work.”
